Description
Use a light box and rotating optical disc to measure the refractive index of glass, validate snell's law and experience total internal reflection.
Outcomes:
- Measure angles of incidence and refraction and validate Snell's law
- Use a line of best fit to determine refractive index
- Explore and understand optical phenomena such as lenses, focusing and chromatic dispersion

Students:
- conduct investigations to examine qualitatively and quantitatively the refraction and total internal reflection of light (ACSPH075, ACSPH076)
- predict quantitatively, using Snell鈥檚 Law, the refraction and total internal reflection of light in a variety of situations 鈼 conduct a practical investigation to demonstrate and explain the phenomenon of the dispersion of light
